I was wondering if you could get some more details from your son about the
possible Swainson's hawk. My husband and I might have seen the same hawk on
our way home from seeing the Vermilion Flycatcher. We saw a larger hawk
with the same description in a tree along Furnival Road leading

North Bay conducted its 37th Christmas Bird Count on Saturday December 19th.
Strong winds severely hampered attempts to spot birds on the open waters of
Lake Nipissing. Temperature count day averaged -5 C. The sun shone briefly and
occasional snow squalls were also brief. Hiking was pleasant
The North Shore CBC which is located on the north shore of Essex County on Lake
St Clair extends from Windsor to Belle River and the town of Essex to Gross
Pointe Michigan took place December 14th
The weather was unusually warm at 18c with rain most of the day

The Smew is visible now from the eastern side of Upper Canada Village, looking
towards Ault Island. It along the shoreline of Ault Island.
Upper Canada Village is in Morrisburg Ontario off highway 2.

There is a female Harlequin Duck being observed at the Sombra ferry dock
(U.S./CND border crossing) on the St. Clair River. The bird has been in
the area for the past week associating with a flock of Mallards, a local
resident that feeds the ducks alerted us to the bird late yesterday. The

Lev Frid and I just found a dark morph Gyrfalcon on Sideroad 9 & 10
Sunnidale, approximately halfway between Concessions 7 and 9 west of the
Minesing Wetlands.
We first saw it flying north along the east side of the road, when it
then flushed a flock of pigeons and flew up into
