Hi all, Apparently while watching this bird at Rondeau, I didn't clue in to a couple important features for KIEI, which inherently I should have. It appears it is just a young male Surf Scoter although the most rattiest, mottled looking bird I have ever seen. Sorry for any inconveniences

Jack Alvo and I observed the Lark Sparrow at around 3:20. It was foraging in the grasses in frint of the fence, just off the footpath. The are a couple of trailers on the other side of the fence. It was finding lots of food. Also had a Mockingbird. Good birding, Lynne Lynne Freeman

Further to the post below, the bird is back in the area. Lynne Freeman and I saw it around 3:15 today. While walking on the road on the north side of the railbed and checking the fence line, suddenly we saw it on the road itself just a few feet away from us, and then it moved into the grass.

A few good birds are in the Rondeau Birding Area today. The WESTERN SANDPIPER continues at Blenheim Sewage Lagoons. Today I saw it at the middle pond on your right going in, where there is a bit of open water. It was in company with only 5 Dunlin today. 15 Dunlin were present yesterday!
