Not rare, but I just had 4 woodpecker species in Lambton woods at 2:30 pm. Many downy, 3 Harry, 1 Red Bellied and 1 maybe two Pileated. I had a very good look at one 10 metres in front of me and was hearing one call. Also a brown creeper. I have been expecting for years to see Pileated

The Carleton Place CBC took place on Dec 27th in the middle of this bitterly cold patch (B. Frum Day) . 38 brave souls wandered the fields and forests typically with only their eyes visible. In addition 22 feeders were monitored. The count had low numbers both of individuals and species;
