Saw and heard 2 Fish crows at the top of Bowen Street where there is a gravel
parking lot for a golf course at 11am today, then scoped the Black-headed gull
with the bonapartes by the marina quite easily. Saw both target birds within
10minutes ,nice day to be out, now off to watch the big game
o roosting Black-crowned
Night-herons.

Colonel Sam Smith Park is at the bottom of Kipling Avenue, just take the
Kipling ave south exit from the Gardiner Expressway and follow to the end, park
in the p
trail that starts
just before the main boardwalk if come from Bexhill and turn right at the
bottom of the hill. Rubber boots are recommended as was very muddy and wet on
the trail.

Today went down to the Long Point area with Margaret Bain, Paul Riss and
Richard Pope and unsuccessfully looked for the Greater White-fronted Geese
reported earlier in the week.As a consolation we did see a juvenile Golden
Eagle soaring over the treetops just south of the platform at Lee Brown.

Bronte Harbour is located at the end of Bronte Road in Oakville. I parked
right where Bronte Road ends and turns into
Ontario Street. You will see the lighthouse on the east sid
left on Avondale Blvd, Addington Crescent is the 4th street on the right,
turn here and park either here or on Ascot Ave or Aberdeen Cres.

Bronte Marsh is just north-west of Lakeshore Road W. in Oakville.
There's a small car park on W. River St. Follow the path (under the bridg
to the west or right when you
get to the bottom of the hill, there is a trail offshooting just before the
bridge over the creek, goes to the northwest, when get to some low wet areas
check the brush there.

Saw the Little blue heron around 12 lunch time in the pond by the BSC
headquarters, gave some great views as it fed.
Directions as per prior posting: BSC's office is located at the western end of
Port Rowan along Front Street. The pond is visible from the observation deck on
the south-west corn
Algonquin Park was very active today ,beautiful day there.
Highlights were 6 Boreal Chickadees seen at Mew Lake Campground,4 more at
Spruce Bog.
Male Black-backed woodpecker at Spruce bog right near parking lot, also seen by
others was a male American Three-toed just before we got there.

Humber Bay park can be reached by going south from the Park Lawn Road exit off
Gardiner Expressway to the lake and turning right in the first entrance after

Went down to the Dundas Marsh with sharp-eyed Owen and his helpful dad Brad and
we had a great morning even with the soggy boots. We found by the pond 2
Nelson's sharp tailed sparrows and at the point was at least 1 Little gull in
with some Bonaparte gulls. Also seen in the 65 species were 2 imm
Went by Rattray Marsh in Mississauga this morning with my friend Lucy and glad
we did. Got there and was told there was a Willet in the marsh so went to look.
When got to the marsh out along the beach flushed a louisiana waterthrush. Then
saw a tennessee warbler above the waterthrush. In the mar
Hi ,was a nice winter day so decided to bird the Leslie spit in Toronto.
Highlights are: 1 Hoary redpoll in with a flock of 30 Common Redpolls, Northern
Saw-Whet Owl, Snowy Owl, light phase Rough-legged Hawk, flock of ~100 Snow
Buntings by the lighthouse ,5 types of gulls including Glacous and I
Took a drive out north today to Tiny Marsh ,saw the American Avocet Diane
reported this morning ,is very pale, in non breeding plumage ,also the golden
plovers and the Wigeon are still there and a Great Egret plus the usual marsh
birds.
