I found two female Pine Grosbeaks in Laurier Woods, North Bay today. To find
Laurier Woods go north on Highway 11, turn left on the first traffic lights in
North Bay, turn right on Franklin and turn left onto Brule.

The North Bay Christmas Bird Count was held on December 14th. We had 15 field
observers and four feeder watchers.
Weather was cold ranging from -19C to -24C, winds were moderate 16 km/h to 21
km/h. Snow depth was light from 5 to 10 cm. Cloudy with light snow in the
afternoon. Not much open
The Chipping Sparrow sighting was in error. It was a female House Sparrow.
Before you laugh, consider that in North Bay, the House Sparrow has all but
disappeared. This is the first time it has been seen on the North Bay CBC
since 2001. Before 1999 it was seen on all counts, with two being c

Should have done this sooner. Since October 4, there has been an immature
Ross's Goose in North Bay. Both Martin Parker and Steven O'Donnell have
confirmed my photographs and to my knowledge at least two other good birders
have seen it as well.

I spotted a Snowy Owl perched on a jumble of broken ice piled up along the
shore close to the mouth of Chippewa Creek in North Bay.
I estimate it was about 20 metres from shore. It was in sight of about 60
Mallards that were on the creek.

This weekend's birdbash was most satisfying and fun. On Saturday, I bicycled
to Laurier Woods in the afternoon and spent a few hours there, with a few good
birds added on the way back. I also birded for about a half hour in the
evening just off Sage Road beside Depensiers
My bird bash this month as done at home and near home on Saturday (I checked
the feeders and went for a short walk to the bike path). On Sunday I went up
north to Sand Dam Road. I parked in the large open space at the start of the
road. Then I got onto a snowmobile trail and turned right afte

A Harris's appeared in the Chown's backyard Friday January 12th. It was still
