Hello birders,
In spite of the weather forecast I was joined by 22 hard birders for
today's (6th annual) OFO trip to the Prince Edward County South Shore IBA.
The weather was actually quite comfortable for most of the morning but the
wind picked up and rain started around noon and was fairly heavy
Just getting word out that what appears to be a Great Kiskadee was reported

Ken Burrell, Nathan Miller and I just had a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher
perched on the wires at almost exactly kilometre marker 770 (less than 100
m east) on Hwy 17. We watched it for about 15 minutes before it flew
northwest across the road and out of sight. This is about 5 minutes east of

6 OFO members joined me for the annual late April trip to explore the

The weather forecast was very grim, calling for temps just above zero and
rain for most of the morning. We arrived in snow changing to rain, but
Our OFO trip just had three Black Vultures with a single Turkey Vulture go
over us heading northwest at the intersection of Royal Road and County Road

The 84th Kitchener CBC was held today (December 16th). The snow and cold
weather this week froze most water but stretches of the Grand River were
still open. The snow seemed to do a good job of concentrating many birds
but cleared out others (especially gulls). There are still many feeder

In my excitement I put the wrong location...the nearest town would be Port

Colin Jones and I have found a singing Worm-eating Warbler near Port
Lambton. Colin obtained excellent photos. We were walking the Lambton

The bird has moved about 50 m east and fed for a while in a waste dumping
area and then moved further east and out of sight. Try going along the
north edge of the lagoons.

Our group on the Huron Fringe Birding Festival just found a Western
Kingbird. It is flycatching from trees along the road in to the sewage
lagoons.
Directions: as you come in to Wiarton on Hwy 6 turn right (east) on Elm and
the lagoons are just past the cemetery.

I had the privilege of leading the now annual late April OFO trip to the
Prince Edward County South Shore IBA yesterday. Migrant passerines were
very slow but we still found about 90 species.
The highlights of the day were two Little Gulls at the Kaiser Crossroad
flooded field and many typical mid
Jeff Haffner found a young White Ibis this morning at 7 am in Napanee. I

A singing male Lark Bunting was found last Thursday (June 19) by Sherri

The bird is on the east side of Art McGinn
A group of us (ken burrell, barb charlton, doug mcrae and I) just had a
Kentucky Warbler singing and foraging in the tree tops(!) along the west beach
about 400m south of blue heron/northwest beach. May be moving south along west
edge of woods.
