Highlights from this afternoon:
In the stubble field at the entrance to the driveway to 5771 Streicher Line
at least 75 Horned Larks and 2 Lapland Longspurs. Very close looks.

Farther west along Streicher Line a huge flock of Snow Buntings compri
Behind the "new" library at the intersection of Fischer-Hallman and
Laurelwood at 10:43 a Northern Shrike was hunting from the top of a sapling.

I am always a tad reluctant to positively identify Cackling Geese, being
fully aware that variables other than size may influence one's perception of
the species. Today at Reesor Pond in Markham I observed two very small
geese, barely bigger (if at all) than the ubiquitous Mallards. The neck

This morning my wife and I were treated to a splendid spectacle as a Bald
Eagle (3rd year?) and an Osprey battled in the sky. Initially the eagle was
being pestered by a crow, to which it paid no heed, but when the Osprey
