The owl woods are very productive this morning. There are at least two
Boreal Owls, four Northern Saw-whets and 30+ Long-eared Owls. At the
Kingston Field Naturalists Club property on the east end of the island

I wanted to add that a trip to Amherst Island last weekend found 4 - 5
Long-eared Owl in the owl woods. In addition to other birds, I watched as a
Northern Harrier dove to the ground and flew off with a sizeable rodent in
its talons. It was followed by another Northern Harrier which

one SAW-WHET OWL in the white cedars east of the main path in the Cedar
Woods.
The ferry to Amherst Island is at Millhaven, just 20 km west of
Kingston.

Made it across on the 7:30 ferry yesterday (Dec 28th) morning. The
first Snowy of the day was found just to the west of the entrance to
the KFN property sitting on one of the bird boxes along the fence
line. No Saw-whets in the woods, but the Long-eareds are all still
