On several sweeps I have tallied just over 100 Red-throated Loons, all
visible in open waters to the N and E of Dick Bell Park. An amazing
spectacle, especially once this mist lifts (as it should mid-morning
tomorrow).

Spent a couple of hours birding Lake Deschenes,Ottawa River today. Overall it
was very quiet with little bird activity and no fallout. The water level along
the Ottawa River continues to be very high. The highlight was a flock of 5
adult winter plumage Red-throated Loons feeding

Lots of bird activity along the Ottawa River yesterday, November 3rd. During a
hour period, 9:00-10:00am a group of us birding at Dick Bell Park recorded 14
Red-throated Loon, 6 Common Loon, 60+ Long-tailed Duck, 4 Golden Eagle, and 1
Peregrine Falcon. All the birds were migrating

There was nothing frightening about the weather this morning.
Such a contrast to the spooky winter-like conditions from a couple of
days ago.
Besides being eerily calm and comfortable, conditions were ideal for
observing birds along the Ottawa River.
Around
Today, November 3,2005 I birded the Ottawa River from Britannia to Shirley's
Bay. The viewing conditions were excellent with calm waters and I observed
two Red-throated Loons off Shirley's Bay, 1 adult winter and an immature.
Also present were 1 Common Loon, 8 Red-necked Grebe, 2 Horned Grebe,

The bird activity along the Ottawa River continues to increase.
Today,October 20, 2004 I birded from Dick Bell Park to Shirley's Bay for a few
hours. There was a definite increase in waterbird number, highlights included 5
Red-throated Loons, 125 Black Scoter, 84 White-winged
