At 8:36 am this morning, the Tufted Duck was still present in the Shirley's
Bay area of the Ottawa River in the west end of Ottawa, ON. The duck was
seen well off the point east of the Shirley's Bay boat launch.
To get to the boat launch and other viewing areas (should the bird move
farther east),
The Tufted Duck continues just east of Shirleys Bay boat launch. Accessed

The female Tufted Duck continues at Shirleys Bay-east (as of the latest
report, just after 2:00 PM). It is loosely associating with a raft of
Common Goldeneyes. Birders are viewing the bird from a point-of-land along
the shoreline about 150 meters east of the boat launch. Alternatively,

The female TUDU has flown from its original spot. I have lost it after
running to my car to post the update. I cannot refind it. Hope is that it
flew east toward Dick Bell/Andrew Haydon Park. Will repost accordingly if
it is refound

I have a bird that is very promising for female Tufted Duck at Shirley’s
Bay boat launch. It is about 200 meters out and slightly east of the boat
launch. Heavy snow isn’t helping viewing but I noticed very promising field
marks including a short tuft at the rear of its head

Hello Ontbirders,
The female "Tufted Duck" (has anyone beeen able to confirm that it is not a
hybrid?) is still present on the Ottawa River at Shirley's Bay, and continues
to move around with a large mixed flock of waterfowl. This morning (9:10 -
9:30) it flew in from the east side of the boat

After reviewing the photos taken yesterday at Shirley's Bay,it appears that the
Tufted Duck maybe a hybrid. I will be posting the photos on my blog later
today.

Hi ontbirders
There is a female? tufted duck off the Shirley's bay causeway in a small flock
of lesser scaup. We are viewing it from the end of the causeway where it meets
the first island on the river side.
