Hello Birders,
This is the latest news from Schomberg on the Hawk Owl situation. As most
of us are aware, the large number of observers who've gone to see the owl
has caused unsafe conditions for all concerned.
The town of Schomberg consulted with the MNR, the York Regional Police, the
group
The Hawk Owl was visible from Hwy 7 this morning, sitting on the hydro wires
right where hwy 7 passes over the old railway bed which is now a trail. This a
few hundred metres north of the intersection of Hwy 7 with Meadowview Road.
The Western Tanager was still present this afternoon at 2:40 P.M.
just letting folks know that these owls are still hunting and haunting fields
and forest near the hilliardton marsh happy holidays

The bird has moved. I think I messed up directions before... Bird is north of
Meadowview. It is now in a wood lot seen from these coordinates:

This is a walking path along an old railway bed. Google Earth clearly shows it.

Hi Ontbirders:
The Northern Hawk Owl along Bowesville Road off Leitrim Road did not disappoint
early this afternoon. It perched near the road for quite a bit of time
offering great views of it. Earlier in the day, I saw one female Pine Grosbeak
perched along Grandview road as I drove by wit
The Hawk Owl was seen again this morning in the trees behind the site for a
new church. It was best seen from Scotch Line this morning. Obviously the owl
is moving around.

Kevin Shackleton, Robin Lawson and I drove up to Dalyrymple this morning and
found the Hawk Owl lingering at the same spot where Tony Bigg and Anne Anthony
found it last Sunday during the Carden CBC (i.e. where Hwys. 6 and 46 meet west
of the Carden Alvar). We also had a male American Kestrel n
Arriving at 11.30 am, found the Hawk Owl immediately at roadside on Co. Rd. 6
west of Dalrymple just east of turnoff at #46.
Afterwards drove n. on #46 to #45 (Monck Rd.) . Headed east until reaching
Digby-Laxton Boundary Road. Near corner saw 2 Ravens. Drove south on boundary
road for only 1

The Northern Hawk Owl at Low, Quebec was there this morning. Nearby was 2nd
year Bald Eagle, and we had flocks of Pine Siskin [25] and American
Goldfinch [50+]

Take Hwy 5 and 105 towards Maniwaki until you reach large sign that says,
"Brennan Hill - Restaurant Bar McDonald.
At 12:30 today we saw 'Tony Bigg's' Hawk Owl exactly were he described it's
location. South side of country Rd. 6 just east of the junction with Rd 46.
This is just inside the City of Kawartha Lakes from the Simcoe Cty boundary.
At 1:45 there was a dark phase Rough-legged Hawk at #834 on Highway #

The hawk owl at Moose Creek was seen perched this morning near the railroad
tracks along Valley Street.
There were early indications in the Fall this species was on the move with a
couple of sightings near Montreal and one even in Vermont. Happy birding.

The Northern Hawk Owl at Moose Creek gave great views last weekend and once
again this afternoon. It was seen flying around and perched on wooden poles
right by the road on Valley Street. Afternoons have been very good for
seeing this owl right by the road. Look on both sides

The Hawk Owl was still present at 9:30 this morning at its usual spot on Monck
Road east of Orillia, on the north side of the road a few hundred metres west
of Sideroad 20. The bird is easily visible from the road, at the top of a
large tree in the open field.

There has been a hawk owl in between Haileybury and NewLiskeard since Monday
it is just off of Highway 11 and has been a fairly dependable bird
preferring a birch on top of a 30 foot dying poplar. Should anyone wish more

?Latest update on the Leslie Spit Hawk Owl. I saw it at 1 pm in shrubs and it
put on quite a show flying from shrubs to telephone wires, to top of cottonwood
trees and poplars (& being attacked by a Kestrel). All very close to the?Yacht
Club entrance.

to Leslie turn right to Unwin Ave,right to the Eastern Channel (the bridge

giving us great scope views of this rare Owl.
We then drove some of the roads in the area and found N. Mockingbird,

I have been up there several times now and it can often be seen not far from
the road (McDonald and Legault) perched in a tall tree. It seems to be
easier to find the Hawk Owl these days than when it was first reported

There is a Hawk Owl in Bolton usually found hunting close to the
railroad tracks at the bridge on #50 on the south side of town.
It has been here for about 6 days but was not seen by anyone

I found a Northern Hawk Owl today on the Bruce Peninsula near the hamlet of
Dyers Bay, south of the
