Great horned Owl heard calling just now near the roundabout at Grey Road 19 and
Kinsey Place. There are large spruce trees in the area and although I have not
seen them I have heard them calling several winters in a row. People with small
dogs and cats might beware.

Merry Christmas Birders,
We saw a majestic Great Horned Owl on our way home from our family Christmas.
It was perched on the gin of a lone cedar tree in the open meadow, on the east
side of Wylie Road, just north of McNamee Road.
Take the Kirkfield Road, north from Kirkfield on Hwy 48, east of
July 24 at 8:30 pm .Corner of Christina St and Cathcart Blvd. In the bush lot
about 50 feet up the trail .a large group of crows were making a big racket .a
Great Horned Owl was perched half way up the tree .watched for several minutes
until it flew off with the crows in pursuit .Steve ReadSarni
There appeared to be the head of a GHO sticking out of the top of a squirrel
nest in the tall trees just east of the parking lot at 47 Sheppard Ave East in
Toronto.
This sighting was on February 20.
The nest was about forty feet up, in a busy area, so it is unlikely that
twitchers will spook
not that a GHO is necessarily post worthy, but you don't usually see them
in that area with a rat in its talons.
Just something for locals to keep their eyes on.

Just had a very large Great Horned Owl perched on my neighbors roof, silent
flight right over head to the top of a 50 foot Pine in the Rouge green way.
Watched her for 15 minutes before a sudden dive, presume it found a meal.

We found a great horned owl sitting on its nest on Highway 3 just past the Star
Motel with the yellow sign on the lawn, on the other side of the road. This is
past Sandusk Road on westbound Highway 3, past Nelles Corners. The owl is very
easy to see with binoculars, from the road.

Today, March 1 at 2:30 p.m. I found a great horned owl on a nest on Point Abino
road North near the town of Snyder. ONT, Directions: QEW south to Sodom Rd,
exit # 16 west , Crystal Beach, Ridgeway. Drive into the town of Snyder and
you'll come to an intersection with a stop sign a
7:39pm on my way down the 404 south approaching 16th Avenue, spotted a Great
Horned Owl atop a Light stand on the East shoulder.

Petrocan woodlot about 200 yards south of the Bradley House museum on Orr

There was a Great Horned Owl in the pines along the north side of the Avon
River in the TJ Dolan Natural Area this morning. It was being mobbed by crows
and eventually flew. Also present this morning were Brown Creeper and Hooded
Merganser. A 2 hour walk yeilded 21 species which isn't bad fo

Jean and I were at the Wetland Ridge trail this evening (9/06). At 8:15 PM

Yesterday afternoon, I spent several hours in the Brittania Woods in Ottawa.
In a pine tree just back from the southeasterly most point of Mud Pond there
was a Great Horned Owl perched high up in the tree near a nest. It was not hard

Great Horned Owl - Bridgeport (Waterloo), ON
Over the past month I've had a Great Horned Owl show up numerous times in
the Norway Spruce behind my house in Bridgeport, ON. You can usually hear
him between 10pm and 1am in the morning 'hooting' away. It is possible he
is the same great horned owl
After several intermittent sightings over the past couple of weeks, it's
currently sleeping in the neighbour's back yard. I spooked it this morning;
filling the bird feeders this morning, had I thought to look up, I'd have
gotten a good view before it startled me by flying out of the tree. It

Osprey or Eagle nest near Loughborough Lake. Saturday an Adult and a

This is a quick report. I have just seen a Great Horned Owl being
harrassed by a number of crows. They all landed in the large tree next
door and then flew into an orchard between Green Meadow Blvd.(east
side) and Linclon Ave.(west side) with Green Lane on the North side. At
