I built xorg 7.2 this weekend on the LFS that I built last weekend, and
everything works as it should. But when I change .xinitrc to launch
fluxbox as my window manager, the X desktop flashes into view for a
fraction of a second and then disappears as X exits back to the console.

Well, my fonts (unlike a lot of stuff I customized) were in the right
place and had the appropriate fonts.alias files and suchlike; just in
case I went ahead and re-ran
