Isn't there a option on the file menu when reading an email in outlook to
save it as something else:
File | Save as...
In that dialogue you would tab tosave as, and there should be an option for
text files, which would be the simplest/smallest option, and those text
files could then either be

Ok. Now I'm getting system32 errors when I try go into the settings|control
panel|speech dialogue, and they then reoccur when I try to make changes to,
or save the settings - LOL!
Might have to now try do a windows repair or something, and, FWIW, the

Cool.
Glad it worked. I also often use the save as email (.eml) option to then
copy emails over to/from various machines/mail clients, but, yes, I often
prefer text files for most things since I can then decide what I want to do
with them.
Stay well

Ok.
After doing another google search for:
download MS sapi 4
I found this page on the dolphin knowledge base:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/speechSDK/Install/4.0a/WIN98/EN-US/SAPI4SDK.exe
and there they have a link to download the sapi 4 SDK:
Ok.
Again thought I was being clever by restoring the system to a point from
yesterday before trying to do anything with SAPI 4, but after re-installing
some of the components that seemed to work before, I now just get those same
errors in the speech settings dialogue, and now also get a 'send
Do you press Alt F, arrow down to save as...enter tab through the prompts,

but better than that you can save them babies directly to your folder...
Just tab to where it says, up one level and tab again to you get to your

Hey Patricia,
Donnie, Why not copy the message to the clipboard and open a word document and
paste it. You then clean it up and save it.

He could save it within his email client I guess on a cd or a floppy disk
drive if he has it, that's another way of saving emails and you do it
through the same process alt F

Again, I'll say, don't bother with that up one level button.
When in the file list, just hit backspace, and it'll automatically just go
up one level no matter if something is selected or not.
Same works when browsing files in Windows explorer and in the file listing.
Stay well

Hey Stu,
It won't work that way. I don't know why, but it doesn't. When I would try to
copy it, nothing
would be there. Of course, I am using Outlook and Word 2000. The later
versions might allow you to
do that though.

Again, nothing is working.
Dunno why that interpreter seemed to work once, but now I immediately get an
error report dialogue, so who knows.
Even tried also installing the SAPI 5.0 SDK, and still nothing in either
place.
Might now try uninstalling some stuff or something and we'll see then,
Hey that's weird...
You have the email open, do a control A, control C, open word document,
control V it should be there??

No worries.
It's just one of the keystrokes that most sighted people don't seem to
know/remember either as such, and the other 'useful' one is that when
browsing files/shortcuts on the desktop, shift + delete will simply delete
the files without putting them firstly into the recycle bin.

FWIW, from some emails I've noticed in the past that I have to first paste
into notepad, and then into word from there (reselect, copy etc.), but note
