You need IE 7 or 8 to access Google Maps. Unfortunately, you need JAWS 8 or
higher to use IE 7, and JAWS 9 or higher to use IE 8. And you need JAWS 8
or higher to use Firefox 3.5.

There is definitely a learning curve with window eyes, I can see why people
like us will stick to jfw, though.

Hey Moty,
I finally downloaded and installed the new AVG 9 full security suite and it
pretty much seems to look and act like version 8.5
I had to press alt C to show all the components list, but Jaws 10 seems to
have no trouble reading any of the menus.

Hi, everyone,
I've had problems trying to use map quest so I thought I'd try google maps.
When I got on the site, it said my browser isn't fully supported for that site.
Is there another accessible site I could try? I'm using Jaws 5.0 and I don't
know if it would work well with a higher browser
Hi.
I found window eyes to be harder to use than Jaws. I'll use it till my dying
day too.

Mark, the thing is that Amazon probably thinks the pc version is just fine.
What they and other vendors on line need to do is hire an assistive tech
person to do these programs right. BUt they are so arrogant they think they
know everything already. marilyn

Hi
Perhaps if we let Amazon know that there is a good market for
accessible software they may make an accessible version?

The software doesn't cost anything. there is a problem, though. I had the

The kindel pc software is free. Of course, the downloads aren't but that's
ok. Personally, I think it's time for the proliferation of proprietary book
readers to somehow get together. AUdible.com books won't play on the

Yes, a person can buy the stand alone reader but in America they cost
$259 to something over $550. I did not see any price on the software down
load for the computer. I am thinking if the software would work I could use
it on my laptop.

In my opinion window eyes is not all that different from jaws.
There is different termonology but navigation is the same, its just
remembering the commands. I mean, reading paragraph-by-paragraph, visited
links, unvisited links, etc.
Browse mode is the same as forms mode and you use the numpad
I never could figure out Window Eyes. I use Jaws and System Access.

Well, it also seems that software doesn't do too much more than try to
allow you to manage the content on your reader hardware, since when someone
tried installing it here at work, they reckon it wants account details, and
doesn't seem to have much in it relating to actually trying to read
anything
Good morning listers,
I have already spoken to tech support at amazon and they thought talking menus
would be possible and the tech rep told me that he would be sure and put it in
for suggestions of future improvement.
