I know a few folks using NVDA exclusively. It works best in firefox
with an add-on called WebVisum.

Well, it turns out that there other voices for NVDA. The SVOX PICO voice is
pretty good. I have it and I like it almost as much as the Real Speak voices
for Jaws 10 and later. Go to the link below to see some info and download SVOX
PICO.

So how do you check to insure that your network is using incription?
And what if you're away and wish to use a freely available network?
For example, I use one e-mail for almost all things but another for
financial/legal matters. If I use my regular e-mail and stay away
from shopping sites and
to be safe, I wouldn't do anything sensitive on any open network, and even
if you don't get hacked that way, a packet sniffer could be installed on the
machine of another user on the same network, which will capture your
passwords in the clear. A secure network usually shows up as being secure
Hi, Andre,
My brother-inlaw said that firefox was more secure than internet explorer. I
know firefox works great with NVDA. Maybe IE 7 or 8 would work great with it
too. I have Jaws 5.10 and that won't work with the newer versions of
internet explorer.
I'll give it some thought and let you

I am wondering about Pod catchers, and rss readers.
What is the difference, and how they work.
Also, what is the best pod catcher and what is the best rss reader and do they
cost, and if so how much; also are there any free ones?
Thanks in advance.

Rosemary. All people that use Firefox say it is more secure. And maybe 5
years ago this may have been true. IE has come a long way now and you will
have to decide for yourself. Given the fact that you're using such an old
version of jaws, maybe its best you stick with what you know to work

Word is to complex and Works just doesn't display properly on my office

I turn out thousands of words a day at work, but the format is very

Hi,
Why not try jarte.
Jamal Mazrui has written two very good editors for us.
I use both TextPal and EdSharp almost every day.
Both offer spell check and a thesaurus, plus many more bells and whistles for
us blind guys.
I use textPal for every thing from converting puff files to spell checking my
email messages.
Hi, Mat,
It's on the jaws users site and you can also get it from
http://www.jarte.com.
There's a free version of jart and there's on called jarte plus which you
can buy for about 20 dollars.

Yes, but these applications take a long time to open.
I also believe the spell check is borrowed from Word, so if no Word then no
spell-check.
