If you are using Jaws v12 a better option to avoid hearing links spoken is
to invoke scheme Say all text only under say all menu in IE. Use Jaws key

There are two ways to do this. The easiest one is to press the insert key
and the 4 on the keyboard and use the down arrow key until you hear the
pound sign and press the enter key. The other way is to press the numlock
key and type 156 using the keypad on the computer.

Hi Francis;
In order to get the, £ , sign using the number pad, you have to hold down
the, Alt key, then while holding down the, Alt key press156 on the number
pad with num pad lock on. I'm sure that you know this, but, just thought I
would throw in the Alt key note for those that do not.
Yes, I know that but I did forget the alt key. Do you know, there are lots
of different signs and other symbols can be replicated this way.

I am running XP, w 2007 and JAWS12. The two problems that I have
encountered so far are a slow response on the Internet, (links, arrow keys,
headers,next), and not completing the email address contacts. Yes, I do have
it set to complete the address.

Hi Yvonne;
Sometimes you need the, £, sign. Your suggestion is an option but, it can
also be mistaken as the, #, sign. The pounds sign looks like a fancy
backwards 3. Where as, as you know, the number sign, which looks like a
tiny TicTacToe, can be used for both the number pound signs in
Hi!
I purchased a Del laptop last fall. Although it works fairly well
for me, it lacks many of the desired commands for the function
keys. For example, you would normally press F1 to get help. On this
computer, you get choices like, Projector, Computer, Extend.
So I'm wondering, do any
The original question asked for the pound sign, not the pounds sign.
The pound sign is the miniature tic-tac-toe symbol which is under the
shifted numeral 3 on the numbers row above the qwerty keys. This symbol
translates to the word number when preceeding numeric characters and

Hi Bob;
Thank you for setting me straight on this topic. British currency never
even entered my head throughout this thread. I just kept picturing the,

symbols. Take care.
