Hi there. When I tried to use the Avast 5.0 Free Antivirus, it was
inaccessible with Jaws. So I switched over to Microsoft Security Essentials
and am very happy with it. It is very light on computer resources.

No you don't. That is for AntiVir Premium, not AntiVir Personal Edition.

In my system tray there is an item that says "Computer Status-Protected."
That's where MSE is besides the other two places. When I right-click that
icon MSE opens up.

Yes indeed it does. To me, much better than Norton, AVG and AVAST of which
the new 5.00- free version is not accessible, so I switched over to
Microsoft Security Essentials and am not the least bit sorry I did.

Hey, thanks a lot for the additional info. Yes indeed, Revo is just super.
It does what Add/Remove Programs doesn't do and does a much better job of
it. Oh yeah, I remember using Add/Remove Programs to remove Avast from my
system, but after I restarted the computer Avast was still in the syste

Hi. I would like to uninstall Avast 4 Home Edition and have downloaded their
uninstall utility. But I understand that this will have to be done in safe
Mode, and I have Windows XP Professional SP3 on my machine. I also
understand that I won't have Jaws when I uninstall Avast. What is the best
You press Select All and then delete, and when it asks you if you want to do
this you press Yes. Then you go on to Next, and so on.

Lennie, when you're at the main page, there's a link that says Download Now.
When you press enter on that it will take you to a site called download.com.
There's a link there on download.com where you can download it. Hope this
helps.

The program is free, however, if you want real-time protection then it's
shareware. If you just want the cleaner without the protection it's only
the freeware version.

Yes, definitely the system tray and the program filter, but also checking
the registry for remains of the program, and also looking for any other
folders the program created during its installation and deleting them.

I'm not sure what the dummy checkbox stands for, but I think it all has to
do with the skins that load when you start Avast. As for scheduling (I may
be wrong), it is only in the paid version of the program. You can schedule
a boot time scan, but not a regular scan. Someone please correct me
Me too. Since the new version of AVG is inaccessible I have switched to
AVAST! AntiVirus 4 Home Edition and love it very much.
