As stated you need a barracks to make any soldiers, or upgrade any, into
knights or bowman. Once those items are delivered to the barracks, go ahead and
make one of your players into a soldier. Once they show up there, even if their
attacking goblins, you can upgrade them. Select them from

Hi I'm playing castaways 1 mission 1, but am unable to make my peasants into

This seems obvious - but do you have a barracks, armor in it, and
idle soldiers that can be trained?
If your soldiers are busy, it's possible they're just immediately
going out to battle and you don't have enough time to train them.
