Is there a safe way of bringing in an outdoor fire place into the living room?
I was thinking of setting the unit on some cement blocks so it didn't burn the
carpet. Thoughts?

I believe there are such animals as ventless gas fireplaces now. I don't
know if they are called ventless because they need no chimney
