Robert, I would recommend the metal vent hose. It just works so much better. Now, as for the flapper valve, so long as your dryer is electric then the only thing you need to consider is the increased humidity and possible lint. When it got really cold last year I ran the dryer from time to time in

What I know about the corrugated plastic flexible hoses is that they are implicated in dryer fires. As for venting directly into the house, the very fine lint which remains in the air stream is said to be pretty harmful to health. I have run a dryer like that for a time in a particular commerci
