Heinlein was no leftist, any more than he was a
right-winger. He was pro-future, pro-individualist.
He often mentions a preference for market solutions to
problems... but has nothing against a compassionate
and rich society providing basic needs in a socialist
manner. See BEYOND THIS HORIZON.
