But it isn't the same as travel insurance. It won't cover travel plans changes forced
on you by any problems/treatment, it won't fly you home

Isn't there a rule (as there has been in previous years) that you can't play
at mixed nationals unless you were rostered in a previous Mixed tour?
A quick search in the archives gives -
"but to play
on a team at Mixed Nationals they must have played for that team at at least
one of the Mixed Tour

It is London and
near Heathrow, so cheap is unlikely. I'm suprised Jo has found any camping.
£5/person/night does sound on the high side, but it's still a lot cheaper than
B+B or the local Hotels (Heathrow Hilton etc).

AFAICT - the rules http://www.ukultimate.com/docs/tour2002rules.htm don't
mention how teams that have never entered are supposed to be handled.
