I recently installed gnubg (latest windows binaries) on a virgin windows
system. Default was Zadeh.

I just reviewed the file I installed with - it was the 0.15-stable
(20061119) version (That has an about box with 0.16-mingw).
Given the fact I am running 0.15 (Not latest), and based on the code snippet
below - the default was zadeh.

I did a bit of investigation. I think the problem is in the multi
thread loop. The number of games isn't always correct (off by 1) and
that hits both the average and the std err in the beginning of a
rollout, but only the std. err. is affected in the long run because it

Therfore I use GNUBG a lot for recording
moves. Going back and forth sometimes uses crashing of GNUBG. Especially
when I want to correct the first move in a new game, GNUBG is crashing
of freezes and all moves recorded before are lost.
