We've moved to GRUB 2 as a development platform. Please can you check if this
bug still applies
Follow-up Comment #10, bug #15048 (project grub):
I found a person that had more or less the same problem and I solved it from
Linux.
You just have to delete stage1_5* files from /boot/grub/ folder and reinstall
grub with root (hdX,Y) setup (hdX) (grub-install copies again the stage1_5*
files
Follow-up Comment #9, bug #15048 (project grub):
I can confirm that it comes from the Microsoft dynamic disk partitioning
scheme activation.
Because I've just changed the scheme from basic to dynamic on a working dual
boot WinXP/Ubuntu and it does not work anymore.
I've booted with a Gentoo

Hi I can verify this 'bug' :) I used Kubuntu 2006 boot CD, I have a SATA
drive and the chipset is ICH7 (I think, it's the intel chipset). I don't

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
System=ziswin.exe
You'll need to reinstall GRUB again after doing this, but thereafter you
should
Follow-up Comment #1, bug #15048 (project grub):
This does not look like a bug in GRUB but rather a support issue regarding
Windows XP and Linux / GRUB interaction.
A few more details / pointers will be useful to diagnose and help with this:
1) Do you have a virus checker in Windows, does it

1) Do you have a virus checker in Windows, does it check the boot partition,
does it repair the boot partition (i.e. erases / confuses GRUB)?

I am afraid there is a virus checker on Windows, I have not administrative

Follow-up Comment #3, bug #15048 (project grub):
GRUB and LILO work differently, and maybe once WindowsXP is run, the GRUB
stage1 bootloader reamins but the stage2 (the chain-loader) is being
overwritten by Windows XP. The bootloader can be installed in the disc (hda
in your case), or on the
