you should start with 2.0
Simple reason is that the developpers change the api every time there
is a new release. This makes for a very slow workpace, you have to
learn the new version every time.
Cakephp is great, but if you want to be productive be sure to read a
lot and to start over every time
2.0, no doubt!

I began a project three months ago with 1.x. I think there are more
plugins, behaviors, etc... you can reuse from the bakery for the 1.x
version.
I also think that the enhancements in 2.x are not so important if you
are begining a small project compared with the time you can save
reusing code.

Here is my new year resolution - start using CakePHP for my web apps
projects...
So for me to start should i be using/learning 1.x or 2.x version of
CakePHP?
You might want to know more about what i do - i am a front end
developer so i do deal more about html/css/js but outside
