Call it either way!
As with any circle really.

Sorry for the late reply - I had problems sending to the list.
I agree absolutely with your comments - and especially that you need simple
proper dances.
I do a lot of weddings and have devised a few(!) rules / tricks to make them go
well:

Um, what?! The La Bastringue I know (both IFD and contra) is a mixer (SF
area in case it's a regional thing).

People have said a lot of what I was going to say, but I'm gonna say it
anyway. I've called a fair amount for weddings, private parties, and
public non-dancing groups of various sizes.
1) It's not your dance, it's their party. You facilitate people having
fun. That's it. They're not

Bill describes it well. This is exactly my experience also. And I've
also called lots of weddings, including many where all the "swings"
worked fine as elbow swings.
I have called at weddings where I've been paid well but only called two
or three dances during the entire evening. In the end,
r se. esp at family dances, i'm likely to ask the kids
what they'd like to do - it's okay with me if they just wanna gallop around
in time to the music for awhile.
good luck to you!

I really don't agree with this one - I've never had any problems at
barn dances with "Circle left.
DJ for the
next part of the party and off you go home.. Down side is occasionally dealing
with drunk people and sometimes being treated like 'the help'..

Good morning everyone.
I've been calling for 15 years and to this day, the hardest dances for me to
call are private parties, like weddings. Usually, a "soon to be wed" couple
comes to a regular dance for the first time, has a great time, and that's what
they want at their wedding reception.
