Hi again,The replies I got indicated that birders were generally in favor of maintaining the low traffic on the CayugaRBA text service. So we will maintain the higher reporting threshold - acceptable birds for CayugaRBA include "temporally or geographically rare birds (i.e. a Broad-winged Hawk in

2009-10-19 Thread Leona Lauster
For National Wildlife Refuge Week the dike at Tschache Pool was open for a walk which Bob Guthrie and I led Sunday 10/18/09. We walked out just to the turn and this got us close enough that everyone in the group got a good look at the Eurasian Wigeon. When we returned a Bald Eagle was perched

2009-10-19 Thread Dave Nutter
i stopped by Stewart Park this morning (Mon 19 Oct): ZERO Pied-billed Grebes from the shoreline out to the shimmer & mist. The Snowsotrm last Thursday night seemed to cause a wave of migrants to stop here with the unprecedented 100+ Pied-billed Grebes initially hunting close to shore and later

[cayugabirds-l] Yellow Rails (thoughts and photos, not sightings)

2009-10-19 Thread Kevin McGowan
John Confer's story of his dog catching a Yellow Rail was amazing. His description of the bird was detailed, but just the circumstances alone probably would have convinced me of the identification. A bird caught by a dog running along in a hayfield. That's just a perfect Yellow Rail story.
