The highlights were: a magnificent Bald Eagle sailing from (limited)

I was sitting outside at 6:00 this morning, listening to the
thrushes descend, but the local Barred Owls really stole the show,
exchanging double hoots, single hoots, quad-hoots, octo-hoots and
weird monkey calls. And they've kept it up throughout the day,
periodically reminding us that it
Gary Kohlenberg started searching the gardens at dawn, before Ann Mitchell's Cayuga Bird Club field trip arrived after meeting at the Lab of O at 7:30, so he was separate. I arrived about 7:50 and joined the club group. We (or at least I with them) saw lots of SONG & SAVANNAH, 1 or 2 FIELD, 1 SWA

The upper airs were contrary, but wispy clouds at lower levels were
moving in a favorable direction, so I decided to watch the West Danby

It's about noon, Sunday 25 Sept and I happened to glance at the Binghamton radar on weather underground. It looks a lot like migrating birds do at night - a broad diffuse circle of green centered on the radar source despite there being no rain (just a few cumulus clouds here in Ithaca). I saw the
I birded the Freese Road gardens this morning with a number of other
birders looking for the Dickcissel and enjoying the sparrow show. I
uploaded lousy pictures of the Dickcissel, Lincoln's Sparrows, and

BARRED, EASTERN SCREECH, and NORTHERN SAW-WHET all calling
