I was at Mt. Pleasant during the brief clear period and could find only 12
BROADWINGS (which is about right as my eyes are only 1/2 as good as Ken's).
I, too, had 2 OSPREYS.Steve

Hi all,
A group of us from the Cornell Birding Club participated in a collaborative big
day across campus yesterday. In total, 105 birds were tallied including 23
species of warbler. It was an awesome day!
Benjamin Van Doren, Luke Seitz, and I started at the football stadium where
there was
I was out painting the house when I heard, then saw, a single SANDHILL CRANE
flying south. Yard bird! Early migrant, I suppose.

Here's an early report from Montezuma - Knox-Marcellus Marsh Sunday morning, in
case anyone is still thinking of going up today. A very large group from Cayiga
Bird Club and Audubon were still out on the dike when I left, so I'm sure there

Highlights included a
I did a five + mile loop of East Ithaca and Ellis Hollow Road and Game Farm
Road and had a few notable birds.
At Strawberry Hill Woods among the chickadees I had two MAGNOLIA WARBLERS and
a flyby of RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD.
At the intersection of the Ball Field path and East Ithaca
On the first stretch of the drive on Montezuma Wildlife Drive, we had
anywhere from 4 to 7 Soras calling in the cattails in front of us. Pretty
cool! Paul may expound on what we saw, but I know Ken gave a report.
Good birding,
Ann

Just for the record, I did not see any of my migrating Broad-wings without
binoculars- except for the initial two that caused me to look up. I found the
rest by scanning the sky with binoculars, as the birds were extremely high and
seemed to be following an imaginary (not to them I guess!) line
Hi all,
A couple of raptor sightings of note on Mt Pleasant this weekend:
Saturday late afternoon I saw a female/immature Northern Harrier
Sunday 11:30 am there were 6 American Kestrels hunting from utility wires and
hovering over the fields.

I led the CBC field trip this morning to Montezuma.
We started at 7:30am at the CLO and headed straight up north with our
only stop being a brief one at Myers where we had the usual suspects
plus a single Semipalmated Plover on the spit.
We stopped at the MNWR visitors center where we were
