I want to know the reason for the same.

you can add device with out any dn to be the default
profile (also you could use the normal DN with out any css so user can
recieve ) and force the user to use EM to access his number and preivliage .
(you can achieve control external calls by play in partation and css )

This idea of creating a device without a dn is great but how would you do it
without affecting the existing deployment as I've finished deploying the phones
(~ 60) ,dn's,partitions and css (by the way both partition and css are
configured on the lines) and other features in

thanks for you suggestion...I thought you might have been onto the solution
but I do have the default gateway configured in CUE and I can ping the
phones on the remote subnet (where there is no audio from CUE) when I ping
from the CLI of CUE.
