Dear all,
registration is now open for the international meeting on “Current Challenges
in Integrated Structural Biology” at the Centre for Integrative Biology at the
IGBMC.
19/20 June 2014, Strasbourg, France (right before the 3D-EM Gordon conference
for those travelling to Europe).
You folks know all this stuff but these short film made by the Royal
Institution may be useful for teaching/outreach.
The first presented by Elspeth Garman, focuses on crystallisation:

The second (with me in front of the camera),
Dear William,
The lowest resolution spots you can see tell you something about your cell
dimensions since the resolution cannot be lower than the longest distance in
your unit cell. If you see spots at 30Å resolution, you are pretty sure you
have protein crystals, if you only see spots at

Dear William,
When in doubt, I would usually harvest a few needle clusters (especially as it
sounds like you got plenty now), wash them with crystallization reservoir and
then run them on SDS-PAGE gel. If you see a band of the right molecular weight
you have most probably crystallized your

Hi, all,
If they exist, could someone provide a few precedences wherein the soluble
portion of a transmembrane protein undergoes significant conformational
change after the removal of the transmembrane region?
thanks,

Thanks for the input, Eugene. No, these do not impact phasing or

5-I dU with no problems. The refinement is a bit tricky for some of the

Hi,
Does anyone (UK preferably) have a working DDS1 DAT reader? I would like to get
at some old Daresbury SRS images.
Cheers,
