Hi,
can anybody please give me some recommendations for long term archiving
of data.
Which brands are known to be usable for this?
Many thanks for some information,
Helmut.

Hi,
which (GUI) tool do you use for burning Blu-Ray-disks?
Since I don't use KDE nor GNOME, I'd prefer something like TkDVD or the
good old xcdroast. What has to fixed for these tools to enable them
burning a Blu-Ray disk? Is it just the missing capacities which are not
listed?
Many thanks

A modern C++ compiler like gcc 4.2.3 needs an
#include limits.h
for INT_MAX to be known
(or more C++ like
#includelimits
const int INT_MAX = std::numeric_limitsint::max();
)

/cdrecord: fifo had 1 puts and 1 gets.
/usr/local/bin/cdrecord: fifo was 0 times empty and 0 times full, min fill was
100%.

use FAT-partitions only.
In the past, I've made the experience that just backuping up all
files (like tar + (cdrecord/growisofs)) doesn't suffice.
Probably some files are location dependent.
Many thank for your comment on this,

Hi,
is there (in Linux) a method to let non-root users mount
a CDROM AND specify a session?
The standard user(s) option in /etc/fstab does not allow
to specify a session at mount time.
Is the only way to write some SUID prog/script which does this?

Solaris it no option for me

Just thought I would mention it in case they weren't noticed.
Yes, sorry for that. Somehow my mailer resent old emails.
