for this problem is the RSCSI protocol that I created 10 years
ago in order to talk to remote SCSI devices. This let's you run cdrecord

Perhaps the new cdrecord is linking in old shared libs?
If your drive returns -1 although there is a recorded session, it
looks like your drive has a firmware bug.

on sparc, I was unable to write a DVD because
of the lack of DMA support for ATA. Note that in order to be able to enable
burnproof, most drives require DMA to be enabled too.

you that the hard links you created on the media will work
on platforms that correctly support hard links (e.g. Solaris).
