I think it's likely that this is a known problem, but I haven't been
able to find anything relevant in TFM or on the net.
The problem is that only the first scsi bus is reported by executing
cdrecord -scanbus, which makes it difficult to use cdrecord with
xcdroast when the CD-R is not on t
