Tac doesn't sound familiar. I remember it as the guy that started the list
died and his wife found the list while going through his computer and sent
a message to the list. Someone then took it over, I thought that was when
Mike stepped up.

I don't remember when I joined. I was part of the Evolt community from
early on and did most of my web dev stuff there. There was a strong CF crew
at the beginning. I came over here some years later, I think.
I unsubscribed from cf-talk awhile ago as I haven't done any CF work in a
couple years.

Railo is pretty much "the stuff you can do in java without bolting on a
bunch of junk". So things like Exchange integration and other outside
library stuff isn't in there

Railo is an open source alternative to Adobe's CF. Its also much faster. CF
is like a family station wagon while Railo is more like a John Cooper Works
Mini S with the full turbo and racing package.
Railo has a much smaller footprint and is very fast.

I am still doing CF with my clients. But it's all pretty basic stuff. I have
been removed from anything innovative for some time... I am still doing the
same type of code I was doing 10 years ago.
I have no idea what Railo is or how to use it. Maybe some classes would be
good.

I was a contractor at Sprint hired to do some web work. Was handed a project

on a web page. I started researching different ways and an employee in a

I'm still seeing a bunch of CF work but it's not like it use to be. We are

them before. Some is also for companies who came to us seeking "CF talent".

Quite possibly. There are no where near the same number of jobs for CF devs
compared to five years ago. And a significant portion of those are projects
that only maintain legacy apps, or conversion project to .Net or Java.

No, this list got started when the complaints about OT posts on CF-Talk got
to a certain level. CF-Talk was set as the tech only list and this as the
not-really-tech list. Never worked out 100%, but worked well enough.

I think that what's happening here is what's happening with CF in general.
Its a shrinking market. I've mostly moved fr

I think I have been on this list since it started... I have only went to one
meeting and I think that is the one that got this started.. here in Kansas
City. Was actually fired from Sprint for going. It has dropped off but I
still enjoy it and I use CFTalk when I need some help still.

Not just you, which is why the community keeps shrinking.
Plus, not really many new people in the last 5 years.
Most of my "board" time is now spent with WordPress peeps, and local Boston
dev boards.
And I am out 2 or 3 times a week at various meetups, which consumes a lot
of that free time.
