Actually, that one might be kind of interesting...

watch through the 1/2 way point in the 2nd episode.
never read the books, but am a bit disapointed with there shows of magic.
seems a little to glitery/glam then real...
but its better then watching another episode of trading spaces...
About 10 minutes into Earthsea I was throwing shoes at the television.
The cinematography was gorgeous, the acting was ok, but the dialogue
did truly suck. How can someone take such wonderful source material
from a writer like Ursula LeGuin and arrive at such banal dialogue?
I haven't wa
Well... just finished watching the first one. It sucked. Bad sucked.
REALLY bad sucked.
There wasn't a single, not one single, important event in this travesty that
occurred ANYTHING like the books.
What irks me most of all are the small things. In the book his true name is
"Ged" and his usena
Yes, I really appreciated the fact that the dialogue was mostly
Tolkien's, word for work. I really don't remember the EarthSea book
being much like this. (Just finished watching part 2). I'll shut up
now in case someone wants to see part two unhampered by my opinion of
it. Quest

I enjoyed The Stand mini-series. I think they stretched it out over 8 or 10
hours, but the uncut version of the book was up over 1000 pages. Its my
favorite book of all time, and the mini-series did it about as much justice
as you can. The acting was also first rate, with Gary Sinise in the lead

Masada was good, great story, great acting, Brits as the romans (which
for some reason just feels right in a movie :-)
Centennial was a fantastic, starring everybody mini; very true to the
source material. - hoping it comes out on D
It's not silly at all.
They took the author's vision and warped it so that it would be more acceptable
to a prime time american audience.
More female roles, altering or removing non-whites characters...I missed it and
I'll probably watch it when it re-runs, but I wish I
hadn't known all that sin
A made-for-TV miniseries, based on a fantasy book, and airing on
Sci-Fi.yeahthink i'd have pretty low expectations for that train
wreck.

rivalry subplot is there.

I'll watch it tomorrow, but that first five minutes didn't bode well for it.
This was the PERFECT mini-series story! A short book told in a
conversational way! "A Wizard of Earthsea", as it is, with no Hollywood

No kidding. Sci-Fi actually has had some decent shows, but there's
just something about the miniseries format that sucks the life out of
the ability to tell a good story. It's like the writers, who couldn't
get a job writing a mainstream movie, suddenly have 4-6 hours to tell
a 1 hour story. I'm gr
