I would either go to a low end realitor (we have them for 1.5% out here), or see a real estate attorney to make sure everything is done properly. The other thing that I would do is hire a reputable termite inspector. He'e not just looking for bugs. He is checking for dry rot etc... Its been a

Michael, One thing I would emphasize is that in a real estate transaction the seller pays the realtor's fee. So in theory you are saving 6% by cutting out the realtor, but in reality your savings will depend on the price you pay for the property v. the price you would pay if you used a realtor

Has anyone ever bought their first home (or any home for that matter) from someone they knew? My fiancé and I are looking for a condo or townhouse in the DC Metro area and have an opportunity to take a look at an old coworkers' condo. She would be just as happy as us to avoid the realtor/broker fee
