I had flakey problems with USB on two Dells so far. In my case it was
with a PocketPC and and any files larger than 50kb wouldn't transfer
with USB.
In that case the problem was that the Infrared port and the USB were
conflicting - once I disabled the IR in bios the USB worked fine.
