that site's not quite what I asked about. The whole screen scrolls
when the content is larger than the viewport. What I was asking about
is a content section that scrolls while the rest of the page stays
fixed. Just like if you used position:fixed on the all elements other
than the content div.

I started with csszengarden.com and went from there but were I REALLY started
to learn was being on a mac and doing trial and error with the different mac
browsers & vmware running and having ie6 & ie7 open on windows side with ff,
opera & safari open on mac side and just trying things to see ho

absolute positioning everything and they are actually making it harder than it
should be.
The hacks come in say in the site you are doing if you need the site to be a
min height... say to be sure that the content is alway
I just thought it was pretty amazing that a fixed header, fixed
footer, unlimited scrollable columns all equal in length was possible
with a very simple, short css script. Plus, it doesn't look like many
"hacks" at all. Just the comment at the top of the DocType statement.
