Yes, they are. Actually, I think the play lists are pushed as mp3s from a central server. The DJs have little to no say in what goes on and are more just voices.

There are at least 2 or 3 stations here in the Tampa area using RDS
now actually, the song info just pops up on the radio. They all
started fairly recently. Probably all the ClearChannel stations
sharing the same broadcast equipment since they started doing it at
the same time.

I'm not sure what the acronym stands for, but certain radio stations in my
area, Dallas, broadcast extra info including name of the song, artist and
station name. They also broadcast the time which makes setting you car's
clock very simple. It's a neat feature.
