My parents just lost one of their springer spaniels...he was an old guy. They had adopted him and his brother about 6 or 7 years ago (they were already adults). It's never easy. I lost a cat that I had several years before I married my first wife...she was one of my kids :-( I still get teary e

Sorry to hear that. We are at the other end of the experience, having just got an 12 week old Ridgeback puppy. He's been in our house for 3 weeks, and the whole family are so attached to him already that I can't imagine how upset we'll be if we were doing what you are now. Go well Dog.
