I just built a web/ftp server for our dept sites. The FTP site pointed
to the root of all of our web sites:
E:\WebSites\
The web sites, in IIS, point to a sub-directory under WebSite:
E:\WebSites\it.evansville.edu\WebSite
All domain users have "List Folder" access to E:\WebSites (which is also

i know, im looney, i reply to myself while figuring things out, but
thats ok, if you watched me learn cf on the cftalk list, i did this
for an entire year while learning... anyway... this link explains
a lot

gracias again
Thank you Nick for your help!
I got it. I just make the users initial remote directory in the FTP program
the "/foldername" of the new virtual directory and its all good.
the root ftp folder is something empty and useless, and i block ftp
from unknown ip's
i think im good and secure and ready t
I get the Virtual Directory idea... that makes sense.
Now, what does confuse me is... when you mention "With their
username" I really didnt see that option when making the Virtual Directory.
Do you mean, go into the user, and make their home or starting folder
that virtual dir?
im almost there.
Yeah, the easy way is to do this:
In IIS for each user create a virtual directory with their username and
point it to their folder. When they login they will be sent into that
directory.
Make the root FTP directory an empty directory that doesn't matter.
