I got a call back from the Co-op.
The answer is.drumroll please..
Weeping Cherry.
He is sending me a bunch of info for this tree. He also said that I can
expect white or pink blossoms. That will make my wife happy!
Of course, I forget who gets the prize. Who answered correctly?
Th
Ah-ha! Wondering where you came up with that resource. While I knew that
the Coop existed (I went to UNH), I never knew it provided those kinds of
services.
Thanks again!

Yes, you get to be referred to in the future as the "Awesomest Arborist
Around".
In your case, we'd have the choice to call you either that or "Martha".

Woohoo! I should probably mention that I work for the Cooperative
Extension in WI which is why I figured they could help. You're paying
for them to be there with your taxes, make them work for you!

Well, thanks for all the help, y'all. I have a phone call into the UNH
Coop Family Garden Help center. With this info and their help, I should be
able to identify it!
I know that you guys probably won't be waiting with baited breath on this,
but I will post the results as soon as I find out!
Looks very, very similar to the White Fountain Weeping Cherry we have.
A landscaper who came by once thought our tree might have been a
weeping almond so I gather there are other species that look quite
similar.
I was told that the presence, absence, or number of little nubs on the
stem of the lea
I threw away the leaf after I photographed, but I just measured the paper
towel circles (that was what it was photographed on). The leaf was about
2-3 inches long, depending on whether you count the stem or not, and the
width is about 1-1.5 inches.
Thanks for the info!

Time to put the Naturalist hat back on
How large were the leaves? 1 inch long by about 3/4 inch?
It is definitely an ornamental tree. Probably older and therefore more
valuable based upon the size of the trunk. Not being able to see the
texture of the leaf, I'm going to guess it is an elm
Wow. I almost forgot what snow looked like :D
I still think it's a Japenese Cherry tree or somewhere along those lines
...
Good luck! :D
Nice pics though! :D
Cheers,
Erika
