Well, thanks for all the help, y'all. I have a phone call into the UNH Coop Family Garden Help center. With this info and their help, I should be able to identify it! I know that you guys probably won't be waiting with baited breath on this, but I will post the results as soon as I find out!

Looks very, very similar to the White Fountain Weeping Cherry we have. A landscaper who came by once thought our tree might have been a weeping almond so I gather there are other species that look quite similar. I was told that the presence, absence, or number of little nubs on the stem of the lea

I threw away the leaf after I photographed, but I just measured the paper towel circles (that was what it was photographed on). The leaf was about 2-3 inches long, depending on whether you count the stem or not, and the width is about 1-1.5 inches. Thanks for the info! At 12:24 AM 1/13/2005,

Time to put the Naturalist hat back on How large were the leaves? 1 inch long by about 3/4 inch? It is definitely an ornamental tree. Probably older and therefore more valuable based upon the size of the trunk. Not being able to see the texture of the leaf, I'm going to guess it is an elm
