Sure, I have a Iomega 1.5 TB NAS, with Raid 5 and it has a Linux OS embedded on it, and it works quite well. Course we only got it a few months ago, and I haven't had time to throw as much data on it as I wanted to yet, but for now it is pretty nice, and it was only $800 CDN I think... Can't beat

Interesting. I just took a look at it but in my initial look I couldn't tell if it allows hot swapping of drives. The thing I like about Drobo is, (from what I have seen) it doesn't require any UI to operate. You literally just plug drives in and out willy nilly as needed and it dynamically

Yes. It's not as feature-rich an FTP server as FileZilla or another dedicated piece of software, but you can give specific users rights (read only or read/write) to specific directories. You can also add users in groups, but the interface is a little clunky. I have each of the servers set up
