That is better then to be expected. DSL is based on ATM and ATM works with 53
byte cells with 48 bytes payload. Throw in Ethernet frames a
Maybe I can. The phone system in New Mexico is notorious for phone
lines run along the top of fences, which are frequently blown over in

We have the most HORRIBLE telecommunications infrastructure run by a national

Don't YOU rub it in.
In Australia, the DSL infastructure (owned by Telstra) provides a
maximum of 1500/256 (down/up). Only now, you can get upto 6MB through
specific providers (because they have deployed their own DSLAM's) and
you need to be pretty close to the exchange (2-3 mile) to get those

I'm unfortunately at 1.5/768 DSL right now. In my neck of the woods, we
have a wireless internet provider, but I wasn't able to get a decent
signal. If it had come through, it would have been $60/month for 10mbps
synchronous, and that included VOIP service with a free ATA, all the

There are places in the US where you can get 10Mb, just not around here.

I switched, and it was a purely financial decision. 26.99 vs 45.99 each
monththat's quite a difference over the life of the service.

about that. I think nationwide you can get 8 Mbps everywhere in the
