Update: The so-called new/upgraded server setting wizard FAILED without any err msg or the like.I looked at the winXP/NT services, CF app srv is running, all other cf related services are not.I hope I'm not speaking too soon. And I'm caught between reboot the machine and wait for another HALF AN

FOR THE BENEFIT OF EVERYONE ELSE: DO NOT TRY MY INITIAL PROCESS OF CF6.0 UPGRADE TO 6.1 BELOW; INSTEAD, ACCEPT ALL THE DEFAULTS; then, play with changing CFIDE to wahdjkskdsd288sd you like at your own risk, I've done that before with CF5.0. Silly me, why not use the the proven method. DL P.S.
