I occasioanlly use my MX700 on my laptop - take the dock and use it for the tranceiver - but when I'm "done", I drop the mouse into the dock so it doesn't slide onto the floor - sometimes this includes "potty breaks" so it would charge at that point :P > True - but again, it should be optional - i

No, it's been said in other technical forums that the USB port power alone is not enough to recharge batteries in some cell phones and recharge other items as well as power a transceiver. My P800 USB Cradle can't charge the cell phone while it's sitting in the cradle. I would need a different US

Check into NiMh batteries as a step between nicad and LiIon.  They work great for my digital camera.  You can't charge them and expect them to hold a charge past a few weeks, but since you're going to have a charger nearby, you could always keep a spare beside you.   They don't have a "memory"
