Probably coming in late here, but at first glance - the content of the
"Alerting Service" box on the right all sort of flows together. Maybe
putting in a little more space between each link, or alternating row
colors or something?

If it's meant to be XHTML then it really should have DOCTYPE declarations in
all the pages... There are more alt attributes missing than you can shake

I was hoping for some more negative comments.
The design was forced upon the site, and for a number of reason I believe it is a mess. Originally it didn't have compliant XHTML or CSS.

I get it fine, even from shell servers in the US.
Assuming a recent Windows, could you tell me the outcome of the following command sequence:
nslookup
set debug
resnet.tudelft.nl
server 130.161.180.1
I got it here in the UK... The entire site validates reasonably well...
