ok so this is purely a comic geek rant.
i'm a comic geek, but haven't been following Smallville. i've sampled
it in the past and it wasn't really enough "comic book" so much as
"90210" with an alien guy in it.
i've heard bits and pieces about

They have yet to show Zod. (Snootchie-bootchies)

Oh - I'm almost certain that was Zod.

KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!
I do find it a bit ironic that Zod is Jor-El now. I think I like the nod to
the old movies for the Fortress of Solitude over the old comic books where
it involved inserting an actual key the size of a skyscraper into the side
of a glacier.

I don't know. The first season was great, but after that something changed. The
style, the atmosphere, something. But I do blame WB for that: they tookso long

Ditto. I was in _love_ with this series... the episode with Reeve was
one of the best TV shows I've ever seen - but it is has gone downhill
so fast I barely bother to watch anymore.

What the hell is the matter with the writers this year? Every time there is
some interesting new development in the main arc of the story, the week after
we have some lousy FotW episode. Clark and Lana as parents: bahbahbah. Can't
they come up with a decent storyline!?!?!?

I agree. I know one of the writers (Doris Egan) and the things that she
tells me
are highly amusing. One of the little things in the series (at least in
the
first season) was the undercurrent of homo-erotic tension between Clark
and Lex.
The quivering lip on Lex when
, it was put in
specifically and actually ads to the show. Also makes for some great fun when
you MST the episodes. :)

I'll pass on the thanks to the writers (at least one of them) when I see them
today. They've done a lot for Smallville in keeping it faithful to the 'feel' of
the original superboy comic as well as the current one. My other note is below:

Anyone catch the episode of Smallville last night? Beautiful. One of the
best things I've seen on TV to date (of course, 99% of what's on TV is
crap). The use of music was - amazing. The "twist" on the Superman
mythos at the end - amazing. For those who missed it - some spoi
